Here are a few reminders:
Please plan to call New Mexico gas company and PNM utility company a week before closing. If you are selling your home you would need to disconnect your service, OR Transfer your service if you are moving to another home in the metro area.

Have you called a moving company? Do you need to rent a U-Haul?
Do you need to call Comcast, Century Link, Dish, Direct TV?
Do you need to board your pet in the process?
Know your closing date: If you are closing at the end of the month, call a week before closing and say:
My name is (name), I sold my house at (address), it will be closing at the end of the month on (day). I will need utilities transferred to (new address) as of the (day). It can be a few days before closing also.
If you are a home buyer please know that if you have never had utilities in your name you may be asked for a deposit that can cost up to $700.00 for connecting. I would ask if they could split the payment on your bill or help you come up with a monthly payment plan. It never hurts to ask!
Please call the above numbers and say: My name is (Name) and I just bought my home at (address). I need utilites transferred into my name at (day of closing/funding).
You may be asked to provide proof of purchase like a HUD- 1 closing statement or a purchase agreement.
